Off-duty Detective Marv Bozwick pursues a criminal into a sewage pipe during a July 4 celebration. Attacked from behind by a pig mask, Bozwick wakes to find himself dangling by his tongue in a subway tunnel. He is offered an option through recorded message: rip out his tongue and survive, or wait until the next train comes, murdering him. Unable to escape the trap, Bozwick is murdered by the train. The following day, Captain Angie Garza sends Detective Zeke Banks an optimistic rookie. Banks and Schenk analyze Bozwick's death, and Banks thinks it's identical to the Jigsaw Killer's.
Banks is caught and wakes up chained to a pipe in a warehouse with a hacksaw nearby. Using a wayward bobby pin, he avoids chopping off his arm. Peter Dunleavy, his former colleague who was sacked and imprisoned after Banks disclosed a murder he committed, is chained up. In front of him is a customized glass-crushing machine that hurls shrapnel. Banks can either liberate him or let him die, a tape recorder says. Banks can't obtain Dunleavy's key in time. Schenk faked his own death by using the skinned body of the thief who lured Bozwick into the tunnels. He was the copycat all along. He says that his last name is Emmerson, the son of Charlie Emmerson, whom Dunleavy assassinated for testifying against a crooked officer. During his stint as chief, Marcus shielded dishonest personnel to clean the streets more effectively under Article 8.
Emmerson gives Banks one last test because he thinks he could be an ally. Marcus is held in the air and his blood is slowly being drained. Emmerson calls 9-1-1 and says he is a civilian being chased by a shooter. The dispatcher sends a SWAT team to his location. He gives Banks a revolver with one bullet and tells him that he can either shoot a target that will save Marcus but let Emmerson get away, or he can kill Emmerson and let Marcus bleed to death. Banks shoots the target to save his father, which loosens his bonds and lets him fall to the ground. He then starts fighting Emmerson. Soon after, the SWAT team shows up and accidentally sets off a tripwire, which pulls Marcus' restraints again. The movement shows that Marcus has a gun attached to his arm, so the SWAT team thinks he is the shooter and kills him. Emmerson runs away while Banks screams in despair.

Spiral's Chris Rock
Chris Rock pitched Lionsgate Spiral to revive the Saw franchise and his career.According to Chris Rock, the idea for Spiral came from a chance meeting with Lionsgate's vice chairman, Michael Burns, at a friend's wedding in Brazil, and he thought doing something in the horror genre would be a new direction for him to go in his career, though he planned to include some comedic elements in the film. When Rock contacted Lionsgate with his plans to expand the series, the studio was enthusiastic. Rock's concept was totally respectful of the material's past while reinvigorating the brand with his humor, creative vision, and enthusiasm for this legendary horror property, according to Lionsgate CEO Joe Drake. According to industry reports, Lionsgate has started talks for a ninth Saw film in January 2018, however the Spierig Brothers would not be returning. In an interview with Screen Rant, the filmmakers stated that their movie paved the way for future sequels. Twisted Pictures and Jigsaw authors Josh Stolberg and Peter Goldfinger were working on a sequel as of April 2018.
Why was Tobin Bell absent from Spiral: From the Book of Saw (2021)?

Spiral (2021)'s set
The film began pre-production on May 16, 2019. Darren Lynn Bousman, a former series director, will direct the picture, with Burg and Koules serving as producers. Rock served as executive producer and wrote the narrative treatment.Exec producers include original Saw creators James Wan and Leigh Whannell. Scriptwriters Goldfinger and Stolberg have been confirmed.
Burg and Koules said that Rock's approach to Saw was similar to what Eddie Murphy did in 48 Hrs. with buddy cop movies. This gave the Saw series a completely new look. The first day of principal filming was held on July 8, 2019, in Toronto, Ontario. The working title of the film at the time was The Organ Donor, and Jordan Oram was the cinematographer. Spiral gave up being fun in order to be taken seriously, but it didn't end up being either.
Some film reviewers praised the performance and Spiral: From the Book of Saw's simple yet captivating idea, but they also remarked on the unknown killer's voice, which he claimed sounded like Kermit the Frog, and stated that the screams and gore aren't something that should be endured by the movie's genuine audience. A reviewer awarded the film one out of five stars and panned the climax, noting that it was hurried, this article half-assed, badly written, and, worst of all, becoming progressively boring. Game over, he said at the conclusion of his evaluation.
A separate film reviewer complimented the opening sequence but deemed it to be the film's sole redeeming feature, stating that the idea is "dishonest at best and fearmongering at worst." This film, like one of Jigsaw's easy riddles, is not as clever as it thinks it is.

After a whole SUMMER OF SAW, you should know the routine by now: a murderer is on the run who doesn't immediately do in his victims, but rather tests them with mechanical contraptions that are as inventive as they are scary. At least, that's the theory. A number of these traps left a lot to be desired... and the technique, as well as the purpose, is incorrect. In his review, he explains it much better.
A film critic gave the movie a bad review, saying that Spiral: From the Book of Saw stumbles through its main mystery without any style or thought. Even the traps that kill you are weirdly boring. In the end, Spiral: From the Book of Saw (2021) is a movie about corrupt and even murderous cops who are suddenly called to account. This kind of story has the potential to be both subversive for a Hollywood movie and timely, but Spiral: From the Book of Saw seems to care so little about any of this that it's almost frustrating. It just wants to kill many people, which it does.
